A Norwegian marine oil supplier and contract manufacturer.

Arctic Nutra transforms Norwegian marine nutrition into market-ready opportunities. We partner with supplement brands, contract manufacturers, and entrepreneurs through three complementary business models: premium marine ingredients, solution-oriented contract manufacturing, and strategic brand distribution.

From Ocean to Ingredient: A Century of Sourcing Norwegian Fisheries

Arctic Nutra's sourcing is rooted in Norwegian seafood heritage. For more than 100 years and across three generations, the founders' families have participated in the Norwegian herring fishery, building knowledge passed down through decades at sea. Combined with extensive experience in salmon farming, vessel ownership, and seafood processing, this heritage provides a unique understanding of marine raw materials and the factors that define exceptional oil quality.

Refining Process Built on Four Decades of Norwegian Marine Lipid Research

Our refining process is built on pioneering research at UiT Tromsø that advanced the understanding of omega-3 and omega-11 oxidation and oil quality. These scientific insights continue to shape how we refine marine oils today. Rather than relying on generic industry settings, we tailor key process parameters to the unique characteristics of each oil, helping preserve freshness, stability, and quality. Science translated into every batch.

Our integrated production is built on precision, purity and consistency, driven by a team with decades of hands-on experience. For over 20 years, we've refined the art and science of marine oil production. Every variable is controlled. Every batch is tested. Every drop is traceable. The result: superior omega-3 and omega-11 oils that meet the world's highest standards.

Our history

Forty years of context, in four chapters.

Arctic Nutra didn't start from zero. It's a continuation of decades of Norwegian marine experience - historic fisheries and modern salmon farming, polar marine lipid research, industrial ownership, and refinery operations - gathered under one international platform.

1986–2010 · Research & heritage

The Norwegian marine lipid programme.

  • Behind the company is a lineage in Norwegian salmon farming and fisheries reaching back to the 1980s - first-hand experience with the fish, its handling, and what defines quality that still shapes how we judge raw oil.
  • Professor Bjarne Østerud begins fish oil research in the omega-3 segment at UiT (The Arctic University of Norway).
  • Decades of work by Østerud, Elvevoll and colleagues establish how marine omega-3 oxidises and what protects it.
  • This is the body of research our refinement process is calibrated against - informed by, not affiliated with.

2011–2017 · Industrial ownership era

Long-term commitment to Norwegian marine oil.

  • Bentneset Invest AS establishes a long-term position in the Norwegian marine oil sector.
  • Research into alternative omega-3 sources expands, from algae to fish oil, laying the groundwork for a multi-species portfolio.

2017–2020 · Modernisation

A purpose-built Norwegian refinery.

  • Fortuna Oils AS acquired in 2017. Plant rebuilt and put into operation as our dedicated refinery.
  • Arctic Omega-3 Norway AS established in 2020, the operating company behind the bulk supply and contract manufacturing business.
  • Patent family granted: NO 344004 and EP 3420822, a combination of refined herring oil and cold-pressed virgin olive oil.

2020 → · Arctic Nutra

From bulk supplier to integrated platform.

  • Long-term collaboration with Fortuna Oils formalised - bulk supply, contract manufacturing, and own-brand distribution under one operation.
  • Contract manufacturing for finished omega-3 and omega-11 products established. Sales channels for bulk and B2C-licensed products developed.
  • Rebrand to Arctic Nutra, international marine ingredient platform built on Norwegian production.
