EPA and DHA are the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids at the core of the marine oil market. Four claims are EFSA-authorised under EC No 1924/2006, the regulatory standard for finished supplement labelling in the EU. Cetoleic acid · Emerging science

Omega-11: herring's edge.

Cetoleic acid occurs at significant concentrations in Norwegian herring, a level rarely found in other marine oils. The research below is peer-reviewed but pre-EFSA: directional science that supplement brands can cite as a differentiator, not yet as an authorised claim.

Are these claims approved by EFSA?

The EPA and DHA statements reflect health claims authorised under EU Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006, with their specified conditions of use (for example, normal heart function at 250 mg EPA+DHA per day). The cetoleic acid (omega-11) research is emerging and carries no EFSA-authorised claim.
